Clinton rally at Palestra tomorrow

Emily Babay

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will hold a rally at the Palestra tomorrow night, her campaign announced today.

The event will begin at 10 p.m. and doors open at 8 p.m. Former President Bill Clinton is also scheduled to appear at the rally, which is free and open to the public.

The event marks a final push for supporters before Pennsylvanians vote in Tuesday’s primary. After campaigning in the Philadelphia region at the end of last week, both Clinton and her opponent, Barack Obama — who held a rally in Philadelphia that attracted a crowd of 35,000 Friday — the two have criss-crossed the state over the weekend. Obama has campaigned by train and Clinton has held a series of rallies.

Update: Chelsea Clinton will also appear at the rally.

Colbert’s lineup for Penn

Stephen Colbert’s lineup for a series of shows to be taped on campus next week includes John Legend, Chris Matthews, Ed Rendell, Michael Nutter and Patrick Murphy, according to the NYT politics blog The Caucus.

The “Colbert Report” is filming at Penn’s Zellerbach Theatre from April 14-17, in the days leading up to Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary. Neither Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama, the two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination, is expected to appear on the show as of now.

Look for an interview with Colbert in today’s DP to find out what he thinks of the candidates and why he’s coming to Penn.

Update: Michelle Obama is expected on the show for Tuesday, and Hillary Clinton will be a guest on Thursday’s show.

Hillary Clinton at Penn on Monday

Emily Babay

Hillary Clinton, who is trying to win the Democratic presidential nomination, will speak at Houston Hall on Monday, her campaign announced today.

She will give what the campaign calls a “major policy address” in the Hall of Flags at 10 a.m. Further details on the speech weren’t initially available.

Clinton’s stop on campus makes her the final member of the Clinton family to visit Penn over the past few weeks. Chelsea Clinton campaigned at Wynn Commons on March 5, and Bill Clinton delivered the opening address at the Kerner Plus 40 symposium in Irvine Auditorium on Feb. 28.

The Penn Dems might have endorsed Clinton’s opponent, Barack Obama, but the Clinton family is definitely trying to make Hillary’s campaign known on campus.
