I believe we can safely call this one an utter disaster. The best way to look at it is through the numbers:
34/4 = 8.5 | Penn’s turnover-to-assist ratio. (The A/TO number, suffice to say, is really, really small.
13:29 | The amount of time it took for Penn to score a single point.
6 | First-half points for Penn, helped by 23(!) turnovers. FGCU had 30 points in the same span, and Penn never got much closer.
50 | Shooting percentage from the FT line. 7-18 in the second half to add insult to injury.
0 | Made three-pointers in the first half, out of six attempted. But even with all those first-half misses, Penn still shot better from behind the arc (3-14, 21%) than inside it (5-28, 18%). Overall shooting was a miserable 8-42.
We didn’t see Harrison Gaines tonight, who may have been injured. But also absent from the floor were Brennan Votel and Mike Kach, both of whom should have seen minutes as this thing got out of hand. Joe Gill and Danny Monckton played, for crying out loud.
