This Saturday, the University’s event planners did something so audacious it can only be rationalized as a reckless lapse of judgment…
They actually played popular music at a Penn concert.
I know, I know…the thought of playing music that is actually on the radio is a concept still incomprehensible to our Social Planning and Events Committee. In the business of party-planning, the University gets an A+ for brining a well-known New York DJ, Kid Capri, to give the evening a thumping soundtrack as we passed the money hat around.
So what if Soulja Boy may have alienated deep-pocketed older alumni…or that Kid Capri called us “Penn State” by accident, twice…
At least, for once, someone realized that, despite what our Facebook profiles say, Penn students are not playing indie rock on a Saturday night.
To all the potential donors out there waiting to write that check: If you don’t like your beat down low, or your top let back, or can’t appreciate doing the percolator on Locust Walk, then we don’t want your money anyways.
