Could you B any more annoying?

Caroline Pearsall

I know you’ve seen them. They’re everywhere - littered on lamp posts, stamped on the pavement, even plastered on poor Ben Franklin’s statue. That’s right, I’m talking about that ubiquitous B, those orange, white, and black circle stickers.

For the past two months, I’ve been incredibly curious as to what these stickers stood for. Were they gang symbols? Band logos? Some sort of alien sign? I was completely baffled.

Last Friday, the mystery was solved.

Blame it all on Dzine2Show, or more specifically, student designer Michael Tedori.

While entering Dz2S’s fall fashion show, I was greeted with an onslaught of those pesky Bs. There were piles of them stacked at the door to grab when getting a program, and upon entering the showroom the stickers lined all the chairs of the front row as a means of reserving seats for the esteemed (or, rather, Tedori’s entourage).

It was not until after intermission, when Tedori’s apparel took the stage, that the mystery of B stickers was finally resolved. T-shirt after t-shirt showing the big B logo walked down the runway. Of the 19 student designers debuting lines at the show, Tedori’s collection was definitely the biggest. Tedori even had an exclusive model just for his clothing, who donned a snazzy mullet (which I hear is all the rage over in Europe!). Tedori looked on through his red horn-rimmed glasses while his friends and family, most of whom also sported silk screened B shirts, cheered him on.

With those Bs permanently marring our campus, stuck haphazardly all over, who would ever want to wear one willingly?!? After seeing hundreds of Bs on my walk to class, whatever appeal the B might have had has most definitely been lost. The fact that these stickers are stuck on window sills of houses and even on the hood of my friend’s Jetta shows that Tedori’s publicity stint is a little out of line. Rather than becoming a fashion icon, these Bs have become a total eyesore on our campus and they need to be removed ASAP.

And Tedori – despite my disdain for your B symbol, i’m actually a huge fan of those polo shirts. They were fabulous!
