Al Gore finally reveals to college students the real reason he won’t run for president…

Turns out what they teach you in Management 100 is actually true. Take note, unemployed friends in the College — you actually can run a socially-conscious investment firm and retain your street credibility with tree-huggers everywhere. Who knew?!

At least, that is the hope of every college student’s favorite Nobel Prize-winning former Vice President-turned-South Park character, Al Gore.

According to yesterday’s Wall Street Journal (you know, the newspaper Wharton students never read but act like they do), Gore has teamed up with the power-house VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, known for backing Google and Amazon in their early stages, to focus on environmentally-friendly technology investments.

All jokes aside, at least he puts his money where is mouth is and sets an admirable example for college students to follow. The paper reports that Gore plans to donate his entire salary to the organization Alliance for Climate Protection.

With all the hype surrounding alternative energy at the moment, I’m personally still skeptical that now is the best time to be investing in it. Thoughts?
